Correspondences

One of the constant ideas within esoteric stuff is the concept of a 'Correspondence'.

So what is a correspondence? Put simply a correspondence is where one concept/idea brings to mind other ideas - sometimes through symbols, sometimes through numbers, and sometimes through completely bizarre connections.

The idea is that each time we find a correspondence we can gain insight into each side of the correspondence by considering the other side. An example: Venus is a Godess of Love, there exists a Tarot card called "the Lovers", and in astrology there is a planet called "Venus". By considering the Godess we can gain insights into the Tarot card and into the effect of the planet in astrology.

By using correspondences it is possible to build up a strong set of interconnected ideas suitable for use within magick.

Kabbalah

Well, I've been rather busy with studies and other stuff so haven't had a chance to post on this blog - or look much into magick. Over the last few weeks I've been getting back into it with a study of Kabbalah so I thought I'd blog some of the basic ideas which I find interesting.

First - Kabbalah is not a single tradition. Kabbalah is a twin tradition. The first Kabbalah comes straight from Judaism. The second is a combination of some of the lesser ideas of the Jewish Kabbalah combined with the book "Hermatica". It is the second version which I am studying.
